The Undone-Pretty Hair Look, Explained Step by Step
October 4, 2026 · 4 min read
Second-day hair is the point
Freshly washed hair is too slippery to hold shape. This look lives on day two, or on day one with a texture spray at the roots to fake the grit.
Fewer, bigger sections
Take four large sections instead of twelve small ones, alternate the curl direction, and leave the last two inches straight. Uniform curls read done; inconsistent ones read undone.
Then break everything apart with your fingers once it's fully cooled — not before, or it drops flat.
Finish with oil, not hairspray
Hairspray freezes the shape and kills the movement that made it look effortless. A pea-sized amount of healing hair oil on the mid-lengths does the same job while keeping it touchable.
