Soft Smudged Eyeliner in Five Minutes (No Steady Hand Required)

Draw it wrong on purpose
Forget a clean line. Draw short dashes along the upper lash line, thicker toward the outer third, and don't connect them. Then push them together with a small smudger brush or a clean fingertip.
The gaps disappear, and the finished edge is soft enough that no one can tell where your hand wobbled.
Brown beats black on most eyes
Black liner has one setting: loud. A deep brown or espresso creates the same definition and lets the lash line read as thickness instead of a stripe, which is much kinder on hooded and mature eyelids.
Finish with a coat of a defining mascara — Lancôme Définicils separates rather than clumps, which keeps the whole eye looking soft instead of heavy.
Set it or lose it by noon
Pencil migrates into the crease on anyone with even slightly oily lids. Press a matching matte shadow over the liner with a flat brush — it locks the pigment and doubles the wear time.
Pair it down with a sheer lip like the Laneige tinted lip serum so the eye stays the focus.
